Chapter 2: The Harsh Reality
ARYAA-Chapter1:The Dreamer in a Small Town
Days turned into weeks, and the harsh reality began to set in. Aryaa was working harder than ever—studying late into the night, applying for every scholarship he could find, and entering every tech competition that promised a chance at recognition. But with each rejection letter, the weight on his shoulders grew heavier. His dreams felt farther and farther out of reach.
“Sorry, Aryaa. The scholarship has already been awarded,” the email read. He’d seen that message too many times.
In the evenings, after a long day of studying and working at the local shop, Aryaa would return home, exhausted. His mother would smile at him, offering him a bowl of rice and lentils. “Don’t worry, beta,” she’d say gently. “You’ll figure it out. You’re smart. You’ll make it.”
But Aryaa couldn’t shake the doubt that had started creeping into his mind. His classmates didn’t worry about tuition fees. They had family money or knew someone who could help them get a job straight out of school. They were planning their futures with ease. Meanwhile, Aryaa was still stuck in a cycle of endless applications and rejection letters.
It was one evening, after another disappointment, that he sat at his desk staring at the blank screen, his heart sinking in his chest. He’d applied to over twenty scholarships, and none had come through. He had no idea how he would ever afford the entrance exam fees, let alone tuition. Maybe his dream was foolish. Maybe his future was right here, in Rajpur—working odd jobs, living in a cramped room, just like his parents had.
