Oracle ARCS cloud: Partial Text Matching in Transaction matching

Partial Text Matching:
What's New in Transaction Matching

Fed up of creating calculation attribute or SQL logic to match partial text in transaction matching ? Well oracle has a solution to it with it's new update.

Key Feature: Enhanced Text Attribute Matching

What’s new?

Users can now create match rules that compare only part of an attribute’s value between two data sources, instead of requiring an exact or full match. This is made possible through the new Matches with Contains Operator option in the Match Tolerance settings.

How does it work?

- You can define rules where, for example, a value from a source system (like a GL store number) must simply be contained within a longer, unstructured attribute from a subsystem (like a POS memo), or vice versa.

- This is especially valuable for matching structured data to unstructured text fields, which are common in transaction records.

Business Benefit

- Improved accuracy: Allows for the automated alignment of records that would not perfectly match otherwise, reducing manual intervention.

- Greater flexibility: Facilitates reconciliation when the data between systems is not identically formatted.

- Broader applicability: Useful for matching POS data, bank references, or any scenario where details may be embedded within longer text strings[1].

Example Scenario

If the Store Number in your General Ledger is ‘1234’, and this number appears anywhere within the Memo field of a POS transaction (‘Sale at Store 1234, cashier 56’), the system can automatically flag them as a match using the new operator.

Why This Matters?

Reconciliation often requires dealing with imperfect or unstructured data. By supporting partial text matching, Oracle EPM helps organizations automate more of the matching process and reduce the time and effort needed for month-end close and compliance.
